Japan’s largest industrial union says its members received average 5.37% increase in wages

March 13, 2025 at 04:46AM

UA Zensen is Japan’s largest industrial trade union and represents workers mostly at small and medium-sized firms. They had previously requested for a standard 6% increase in total wages. As for full-time workers, the desired target was a 6.11% increase. So, the figure here is not the best although the over 6% jump was rather ambitious to begin with. But we still have to wait on the wages for part-time workers – which is typically higher.

For some context, the union is seeking a 7.16% increase in wages for part-time workers.
