Iran’s decision not to attend Wednesday’s meeting is final – Tasnim

Here is a translated post just out from Tasnim’s Telegram channel, it’s lifting oil but it just hit:

Iran’s decision not to attend Wednesday’s meeting in Pakistan is final; what is the reason?

According to information obtained by a Tasnim correspondent:

  • Despite all the media hype and speculation by U.S. officials and outlets, the Iranian negotiating team has, for various reasons, informed the American side—through a Pakistani intermediary—that it will not attend the meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday. At present, there is no clear outlook for participating in negotiations at all.

  • Relevant sources say the reason for the absence is that after Pakistan entered as a mediator and, at the request of the Americans, proposed a ceasefire, Iran accepted the ceasefire and subsequent negotiations based on a 10-point framework it presented, which the U.S. had agreed to.

  • Pakistan explicitly confirmed that the U.S. had accepted this framework. However, in the days that followed, the U.S. immediately began violating its commitments.

  • First, by fully breaching its obligations, the U.S. did not compel Israel to adhere to a ceasefire in Lebanon, which created serious obstacles for several days in the negotiations.

  • Additionally, during the very first round of talks in Islamabad, the Americans made excessive demands that effectively violated the initial framework, leading the negotiations to a complete deadlock. Despite setbacks on the battlefield, the U.S. appeared to believe it could compensate for its failures through overreach in negotiations.

  • In any case, a few days after the Islamabad talks, the U.S., faced with a firm Iranian threat of a missile strike on Israel, was compelled to implement the ceasefire in Lebanon.

  • Following that, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, announced that Iran would, based on the initial ceasefire framework, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping. However, this move was immediately met with what Iran described as hostile U.S. actions, including continuation of an alleged naval blockade.

  • In recent exchanged messages, the U.S. has not backed down from what Iran views as excessive demands and violations of Iran’s fundamental rights, and no meaningful progress has been made.

  • As a result, Iran announced today that under these conditions, attending negotiations would be a waste of time, as the U.S. is preventing any suitable agreement
