China says willing to resolve US concerns on tariffs through dialogue

March 04, 2025 at 04:45AM

Trade between both countries are mutually beneficial in nature, should follow WTO rules

Trade disputes should be solved within WTO framework

Hopes that US and China will move in same direction through equal consultation

China ready to work more closely to safeguard hard-earned multilateral trading system

Will not accept threats and oppression

Will firmly defend our sovereignty, security, development interests

It is natural to have disagreements but important to respect each others’ interests, major concerns

This could have been a copy and paste of the whole ordeal in 2018-2020 and no one would be the wiser. Trump has already signed the order for China tariffs to be bumped up to 20% here. That will go into effect in the next 15 minutes. It’s still some ways off the 60% tariffs he campaigned initially but I guess we’re slowly getting there?
