Quite the surge, jumping back up to 4.6% y/y

January was 4.0%

To the extent the Reserve Bank of Australia will pay too much attention to this data point its not supportive of a rate cut, at the margin. The Bank meet next week and a 25bp rate cut is the widely held expectations. I don’t think data point will shake that conviction.
